Abundant vs. Restrictive New Year Resolutions
As the new year begins, many of us set goals and resolutions to improve our lives and ramp up our personal growth. A whole new me! Let’s overhaul! Let me give you something to think about this year as you reflect and reset: what would it look like to make new year resolutions out of abundance instead of restriction?
Let me explain! Abundant new year resolutions focus on adding positive habits, experiences, and opportunities to our lives. Instead of focusing on what we need to eliminate or restrict, abundant goals encourage us to explore new possibilities and embrace growth. These goals may include learning a new skill, traveling to new places, or building meaningful relationships.
On the other hand, restrictive new year goals center around deprivation and limitation. These goals often involve giving up or avoiding certain behaviors or indulgences. While they may initially seem productive, restrictive goals can create a negative mindset and lead to feelings of guilt or failure if we are unable to meet them. Ultimately, these resolutions are born from a foundational belief that you are not good enough and therefore must change drastically. Perhaps that’s why these types of resolutions never make it past February.
So, how can we approach the new year with an abundant mindset? Here are some ideas to get you started:
Reflect on what brings you joy and fulfillment: Instead of focusing on what you want to restrict, think about what truly makes you happy and fulfilled. Set goals that align with your passions and values.
Embrace growth and learning: Instead of setting goals based on what you need to fix or change about yourself, focus on personal growth and continuous learning. Set goals that challenge you and help you become the best version of yourself.
Cultivate gratitude and positivity: Practice gratitude for what you already have and focus on the positive aspects of your life. This mindset shift will help you approach your goals with optimism and a sense of abundance.

Remember, the new year is a time for growth, exploration, and self-improvement. By setting abundant goals that add value and positivity to your life, you can create a fulfilling and meaningful year ahead.
